MEET SCOTT HEGE
I’m Scott Hege, and I’m running to represent House District 52, serving The Dalles, Hood River, Mt. Hood, Corbett, and portions of Sandy and East Multnomah County.
I’ve called Wasco County home since 1991, when I became Executive Director of the Port of The Dalles. During my 14+ years with the Port, I helped lead major economic development initiatives that brought new jobs and long-term investment to our region.
Today, I’m in my 16th year of service as a Wasco County Commissioner. I’ve built my reputation on practical, common sense leadership that delivers real results for all of our communities. I’m proud of the work we’ve done that has enabled us to support our county law enforcement, our road department, and produced local revenues that provide the resources to maintain quality services for those that rely upon them. In short, Wasco County Works!
After years of planning for retirement, I felt called to step forward because I believe Oregon can do better. Our state is struggling in too many areas, from affordability to education to economic growth, and we need leadership focused on solutions, not politics. I’m running to help restore optimism, strengthen our economy, and ensure our children and grandchildren inherit an Oregon we can all be proud of.
I bring decades of real-world experience in engineering, construction management, economic development, and public service. I understand firsthand the pressures facing working families, small businesses, and rural communities.
Originally from Spokane, Washington, I earned my Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Idaho and my MBA from Washington State University.
My wife Betsy and I have been married more than 40 years. We live on rural property between The Dalles and Mosier and enjoy time with our children and grandchildren. I’m an avid skier and outdoor enthusiast, and I’m committed to protecting the Gorge and Mt Hood’s quality of life while helping our communities thrive.
